Sinister Cinema

Jeanne Crain, Vincent Price, Edmund Purdom, Amedeo Nazzari. Here is a quality sword and sandal epic with a great cast that has been overlooked for years. Crain plays the stunning Egyptian beauty, Nefertiti. Purdom desires her but is foiled at every turn by an evil high priest who twice imprisons him. She eventually marries the Pharaoh and after his death becomes the queen of all Egypt. The high priest then attempts a military takeover! Some good action scenes follow. Price is most convincing...

This is a brilliant piece of Greek filmmaking, filled with wonderful performances and perfectly written pieces of dialogue. A peaceful, frightened little man is mistakenly identified as "the dragon", a notorious criminal at large and known womanizer. Heinz Drache, Karin Baal, Siegfried Schurenberg, Agnes Windeck. Baal inherits a mysterious old castle. She is pressured to sell the place, but refuses. That's when bodies start showing up, their flesh torn from attacks by a monstrous hound with snake-like teeth. Nice color, widescreen, 35mm.

Franco and Ciccio (the Martin and Lewis of Italy) are actually pretty funny. They have a certain shtick that works. The boys are sent into space to imitate a pair of lost Soviet spacemen. They fly near the moon and at one point jump into space (hanging from wires) in a vein suicide attempt. One of the high points is when they discover the remains of the first doggie cosmonaut, its little doggie skull still inside its doggie space helmet. Franco's hat winking is a scream!

Hildegarde Kneff, Gotz George, Klaus Kinski, Richard Munch, Carl Lange. The nephew of a murdered millionaire decides to track down his uncle's killer. He faces many life-threatening dangers as he tries to break into the inner circle of the sinister criminal "The Tortoise." Although not officially penned by Edgar or Bryan Wallace, this excellent German chiller was made in the exact same style at all the other '60s Wallace films and is widely considered as part of the series. Peggy Castle, Gerald Mohr, Can O'Herlihy, Noel Neill. The U.S. is being invaded! Unknown enemy troops pour over the borders. Bombs are dropping on major cities and installations, including an H-bomb on New York City at the film's riveting climax. Many of us saw this film on TV when we were kids, then, it just seemed to disappear. Very entertaining and must-see for all '50's sci-fi fans. 35mm.

This appears very strange to Ray, so after the war, he decides to investigate further. A truck driver (Hoven) innocently transports a drug dealer and his shipment of drugs. They are stopped by members of an opposing drug gang (posing as police) and the dealer is shot dead.
