Synopsis

From 1979 to 1981, 29 African-American male children, in metro-Atlanta were either found murdered or reported missing. The cases plagued the city until Wayne Williams was convicted of two murders in 1982. Authorities deemed all 29 of the cases closed and hoped his incarceration would put an end to the serial killings. Beguiled by utter frustration and the haunting grief of the mothers Spin magazine editor Ron Larson (GREGORY HINES) and reporter Pat Laughlin (JAMES BELUSHI) travel to Atlanta in search of the truth. But what they were left with was the knowledge that all of the children had been killed in different ways in five different counties, and the only connecting link was that they were all black and poor. In their pursuit to find answers, Larson and Laughlin nearly lose their lives and are left to find an answer to the glaring question, "Who Killed Atlanta's Children?"
