In the Old West town of Rio, the new sheriff is mysteriously shot in the back. Tom Denton and his side-kick Soapy are the last people to see the victim alive and their sense of justice propels them to search for the killer. Carrying the dead man's ID, Tom is mistaken for the new sheriff, and the two pals bravely attempt to establish law and order in a town where strangers don't last long. The local banker is a murderous crime boss intent on robbing the town's gold. When Tom's true identity is accidentally revealed, Tom and Soapy must use their wits and their guns to save themselves from the ruthless criminal and his band of thugs.
Tom Denton is played by Tom Tyler, who began his acting career in silent films, and starred in nearly 100 films over several decades, including the title role in Captain Marvel and the mummy in Universal's The Mummy's Hand. Popular for his muscular good looks, Tyler is convincing as the white-hat wearing, white-horse riding hero.
