Synopsis

Bob Kingman is a brilliant inventor working for cold-hearted industrialist Wilfred Drexel. However, Bob's main interest is the boss's daughter, Wynne, who spends her time speedboat racing. Bob invents a high-powered engine to help the young woman in her next competition. But a suave criminal posing as a Spanish count named Ribalto also has designs on Wynne. He sabotages Bob's engine and frames him for the theft of $100,000 from Drexel's company. With nothing left to lose, the inventor challenges Ribalto to a high-stakes speedboat race, hoping to redeem himself in the eyes of Wynne and her father.

Mile A Minute Love features a rare screenwriting credit for "Latin Lover" Duncan Renaldo, who also plays the villain of the film. The actor is best known for playing "The Cisco Kid" in movies (1945-1950) and on television (1950-1956). Handsome leading man William Bakewell had a long career in Hollywood, appearing in films ranging from Oscar winners like All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) and Gone With the Wind (1939) to B-movie fare such as Radar Men from the Moon (1952). Etta McDaniel was the sister of Academy Award-winning actress Hattie McDaniel, and often played similar roles. Mile A Minute Love also played in theaters under the title Crime Afloat, and aired on television as Roaring Speedboats.
