Synopsis
A willful young lady, raised in the strict confines of Lowood Orphanage for Girls, sets off for her first job as a governess at the Rochester Estate. Beguiled by her handsome employer, Jane (Virginia Bruce) doesn't question the mystery of the stranger living on the third floor, until the tormented screams force her to confront her fears. Upon discovering the insane wife of Edward Rochester, Jane flees. When she returns, Jane learns of the terrible events that followed her departure. Produced by Monogram Pictures in 1934, and featuring an outstanding performance by Colin Clive (Frankenstein) this is the first sound adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's famous novel.
