Two Broadway producers are brutally murdered in circumstances similar to those described in a play by mystery writer Greg Stone.The playwright is forced at gunpoint to play detective by gangster Smiley Clark who is suspected of the crime. The mobster fears that the bumbling police will frame him while the real killer goes free. Stone edges closer to the truth when the coroner's report reveals that the suspected killer was dead at the time of the crime!
Evelyn Brent has a fine comedic role in this whodunit as the attractive secretary whose overt romantic clues are totally invisible to her boss, the ace sleuth.
