Synopsis
Director Charles Lamont was better known for directing slapstick comedies, but with August Weekend he shows a lighter touch. It's about a high-society dinner party where a wealthy married man is in pursuit of a beautiful young woman. Meanwhile, a younger and not-so-wealthy man is in love with her. This elegant comic feature stars the likes of Valerie Hobson, Paul Harvey, and Betty Compson, and tells an amazingly complex tale of wealth, sexual longing, and the intracacies of love.
