Historically, plastic surgery has undergone a great deal of evolutionary modifications since its beginnings as a way to eradicate slave brandings and mend war wounds, then moved on to altering birth deformities and repairing misshapen earlobes, and, ultimately to its relative newcomer offshoot, cosmetic surgery, transforming the face and body to match shifting ideals of beauty based on the era. This one-hour documentary, VENUS UNLEASHED, reveals the intriguing history of plastic surgery and spotlights the most recent breakthroughs in medical science today, that would have been considered as science-fiction fantasy just a few decades ago.
