Movie Zyng FAQ's

1. What are MOD (Made on Demand) DVD’s?

DVD’s are manufactured via one of two methods – laser burning, or stamping. Both methods create an image that a DVD player can read.MOD DVD’s use the laser burning method which is more efficient for lower volumes.MOD DVD’s have made it possible for studios to bring out rare films that may not have the customer demand to justify large volume stamping runs.

2. Will an MOD DVD perform like I expect?

Yes, your MOD DVD will look and operate identical to a stamped disc. Unless you know what to look for, you’ll have a hard time telling the difference between an MOD DVD and one you’d pull from a shelf at your local Best Buy.

Movie Zyng MOD DVDs are produced to order by Allied Vaughn – the company that manufactures MOD DVDs for Warner Archive, Fox Cinema Archive, The Universal Vault Collection, National Geographic and many more.

Allied Vaughn uses premium industrial grade DVD burning equipment. They use only top grade media – vs. the consumer grade discs you can buy at your local computer store. High speed digital printers ensure the packaging looks professional and the DVD is one you’ll be proud to collect.

3. How should I care for my MOD DVD?

You should care for your MOD DVD just as you would a pressed disc. Hold the DVD by the edge to prevent fingerprints and oils from building up on the disc. Keep your DVD in its case when not in use. Avoid having it come in contact with sharp objects that can scratch the underside surface. And, keep it out of direct sunlight. Dusting softly with a clean, white cloth is fine.

Since the MOD process began to be embraced by the major studios in 2009, many millions of MOD discs have been produced and sold. With appropriate care – your MOD DVD will provide you with years of enjoyment.

4. Is my MOD DVD compatible with all players?

While there are some older DVD players (pre-2007) that may not be compatible, virtually all newer players are compatible with recordable DVD’s and Blu-rays. Some early gaming system (i.e. early versions of Xbox, and PlayStation), were not designed to be compatible with Blu-ray recordable discs. That, too, has evolved with many current gaming systems compatible with BD-R formats.  In the rare instance where you encounter a playability issue, you may return the DVD and Movie Zyng will refund your purchase.

5. What Format and Region are your MOD DVDs?

Almost all of our MOD DVD’s are NTSC region 0.Region 0 means they’re world-wide compatible. An exception is the Universal Vault Collection. They are mostly NTSC region 1.

Note – You will need a DVD player that plays NTSC format discs.
