Synopsis
Clint Eastwood, James Coburn, Henry Fonda, Jack Palance, Woody Strode -- fans can compile a long list of well-known stars who rode the Spaghetti Western plains. And they can add another name: William Shatner. And William Shatner. On a break from his Star Trek TV series, the star earned his Euro Western spurs playing mixed-race twin brothers: drifter Johnny Moon and Comanche renegade Notah. Wrongly linked to crimes committed by his unscrupulous brother, Johnny defends himself against assassins, wins back trust in Rio Hondo and ultimately faces Notah in a fight to the death. Today, White Comanche is celebrated, hooted at and enjoyed for what it is (Shatner vs. Shatner) and isn't (a masterpiece). You have to be in a certain mood to watch a movie like White Comanche, but that's why you're reading this, right? Joseph Cotten (Citizen Kane) costars and, yes, you can add him to the Euro-Western list for this film and 1967's Hellbenders.
