This time, the evil Fu Manchu patiently awaits the discovery of Genghis Khan's tomb. For he is certain that possession of Khan's mask and sword will enable him to rule the East and lead it to victory over the hated Western world. When British scientists in the Gobi Desert discover the tomb, Fu captures and tortures them in his elaborate Torture Garden, hoping they will take him to the treasure he craves. But an unexpected traitor has other plans for the doctor. Based on Sax Rohmer's original story "The Mask of Fu Manchu" is "fast moving and humorous" (Halliwell's Film Guide) and full of pre-code suspenseful horror. This restored Blu-ray presentation features the film in its uncut version, as first released to theaters in 1932.

    Sadistic, problematic pre-code fun!

    Pre-code horror-adjacent gem featuring gleefully sadistic torture, caucasian actors playing east Asians, and more! The film is quite compelling throughout. Some great sets. So much fun! WA did its normal superlative restoration job. Recommended for pre-code junkies like me!

    Inscrutable Asian horror

    Who could have imagined sweet Myrna Loy as the depraved daughter of Doctor Fu Manchu (Karloff at his most menacing) in this speedy and cynical horror mystery. Whips, drugs and torture are right up Miss Loy’s Chinese street, it seems. Great escapist fun, directed by MGM’s Charles Brabin.

    Wonderfully wicked performances from Boris Karloff and Myrna Loy. Restored MGM classic horror. Pulp comes to life with great art direction and costumes. Fun audio commentary from Greg Mank.

    Weird but fascinating ancient horror film from M-G-M

    Yet another little horror movie from the earliest days of cinema that receives the upgrade to Blu Ray ...why? I guess because they have the most amazing tech skills to bring an ancient film from 1932 back to life in a shiny clear restoration that's a technical joy to behold ,,an MGM oddity from Warner Archive who wins hands down best restorations of the oldest least known cult titles.
