Confessions of a Nazi Spy

Excellent and groundbreaking for its time, this movie still holds one’s attention today. When one considers when this was made, in 1939, it was a brave choice for Warner Brothers.

Dealing with the enemy within, the espionage efforts and fifth column movements within the US, it was the one of the first movies to deal with the subject and tackle a subject that most studios were shying away from at that time.

The film looks excellent on this Blu ray release. For anyone interested in World War 2 movies and history I would highly recommend it.

If you enjoy this movie, I would also check out ‘The Man I Married’ also starring Francis Lederer, where he again plays a man coming under the influence of nazi ideology.

Edward G. Robinson is great too, though he does not make his on screen appearance until about halfway through this movie.
