Synopsis
HISTORY remembers a costly political blunder in BAY OF PIGS DECLASSIFIED. President Kennedy considered the attempted invasion of Cuba in 1961 one of the worst decisions of his administration. Not only did the exercise fail miserably, it irrevocably tainted relations with the Communist dictatorship. This one-hour program goes back in time to profile the events leading up to the debacle which left 114 operatives dead and over a thousand captured. The series also highlights a secret report from the CIA Inspector General and Cuban propaganda films mocking the attack that embarrassed a nation.
