Eve Lorraine dreams of Hollywood stardom, but is stuck dancing at a strip club on Sunset and Vine. One night while performing the "Dance of the Seven Veils", she is arrested for indecent exposure. Her besotted parole officer reveals a shocking secret: Eve is a long-lost relative of the wealthy Westland family. Welcomed with open arms by her new next of kin, the former exotic dancer soon finds herself constrained by high society manners (and more restrictive clothing.) Using her newfound riches to take acting lessons, she sets out to finally make her lifelong dream a reality. But on the opening night of her first play, Eve discovers that audiences are more interested in the "Dance of the Seven Veils" than Shakespeare.
Billed as "A Sizzling Keyhole Peek at the Escapades of a Night Club Girl", A Fig Leaf For Eve may hold the world's record for most alternate titles. The film was variously reissued as Desirable Lady, Flaming Girls, Hollywood Nights, Not Enough Clothes, Reckless Youth, Room for Love, and Strips and Blondes. Gorgeous blonde bombshell Jan Wiley is best known for her roles in the horror films She-Wolf of London and The Brute Man (both 1946). This was the sole directorial effort of Don Brodie, a character actor who played a cautious used car salesman in Detour (1945) and provided voices for Pinocchio (1940) and Dumbo (1941).
