The beautiful Maureen O'Hara stars as Lady Godiva of Coventry in a splendid Technicolor rendering of the famous eleventh century Saxon-Norman conflict. When Saxon nobleman Leofric (George Nader) takes Godiva (O'Hara) as his bride, he thwarts a plan for him to marry a Norman woman. This leads the scheming Normans to attempt to increase their hold over King Edward. In the meantime, Earl Godwin (Torin Thatcher) resists the Norman influence and succeeds in getting his son appointed heir to the throne. Their troubles are not over, however, and soon Leofric and Godiva find themselves fighting to open the eyes of King Edward and save everyone from the encroaching Normans. It all leads to Godiva taking her famous nude ride through the streets to prove her Saxon loyalty. Filled with adventure and told with a stimulating, rebellious air, Lady Godiva of Coventry will leave you cheering for those willing to stand up for what they believe.
