    Must see!

    Rating:
    Pros:
    • Educational
    • Informative
    • Powerful
    Cons:
My best friend has HAE and I have seen the effects of it first-hand, but this video brought me to tears. Even though I've seen her battle HAE for 12+ years of friendship this documentary let me see it through the eyes of other people that are affected by HAE. I highly recommend you see this. Natalie, and everyone involved in making this, did an amazing job.

    Special Blood

    Pros:
    Cons:
A must see! This poignant movie will take you on a journey into the lives of four patients and their families - you will be shown a window into what its like to live with a rare, painful, misunderstood and often misdiagnosed disease.... this movie shows the pain, loss, loneliness and YES the perseverance of patients and families as they open up and show you their world - This is a must see for any medical professional - doctors, nurses, EMS as well as family and friends of patients who can look "normal" one day and "unrecognizable and totally different the next" Listen to hearts laid bare as they deal with personal stories of sadness as well as hope for the future... these stories will bring you to tears - tears of both sadness and joy - but without seeing into the past we cannot change the future - one day there will be a cure until then... Thank you Natalie for bringing HAE into the light - and Bob for putting music in so many hearts...

    Special Blood

    Rating:
    Pros:
    • Raises awareness
    Cons:
Special Blood was an excellent documentary. While it was definitely emotional, it did not focus on emotions, or can'ts. It was very informative and well organized. By watching you were able to get a sense of living with this little known disease from both the patient and family viewpoint. The failures, the successes and the ongoing efforts to raise awareness of HAE are the spotlight of this documentary. As an EMS provider awareness is critical. I highly recommend this documentary.

    Special Blood

    Rating:
    Pros:
    • educational
    • personal
    Cons:
    • maybe not enough medical details
This documentary about HAE was most informative without being too technical. The family stories were well done. I learned enough that if needed, I could do more research and get more appropriate medical help. People hear much about serious illnesses, such as cystic fibrosis, or nut allergies, but not about HAE. This movie is a very good introduction to HAE.
